Brutality Gardens

2023; 10 ft x 9 ft x 2 ft; lycra, silicone, screen printing pigment, tattoo ink, wire

A collaborative installation creating a bizarre physical and audio environment, forcing viewer interaction with uncomfortable objects.

The intention behind the visuals was to merge the synthetic with the biological, the temporary with the permanent, and the appealing with the harmful. These juxtapositions create an unease in the viewer, so they wouldn’t know whether or not to interact.

The Audio was created by John Turner. It is an ongoing soundscape that is modified by people moving throughout the room, as well as the touching of a specific silicone hand.

deJesus’s contribution was 10 ft of lycra screen printed with images of common poisonous flowers; and silicone casted hands that have been tattooed with the same floral imagery.
